Hike from Rebhof to the Spronser Lakes with a Stop at Oberkaseralm

The Spronser Lakes, located in the Texel Group Nature Park, are among the most spectacular high-alpine landscapes in South Tyrol. This hike starting from Rebhof offers the perfect blend of alpine challenge, culinary pleasure, and breathtaking nature.

Starting Point: Rebhof in Dorf Tirol

From Rebhof, it’s only a short walk to the Hochmuth cable car. The lift takes you up to 1,400 m, reaching the Muthöfe, the ideal starting point for this scenic tour.

Ascent to Oberkaseralm

From the top station, follow trail No. 22, which leads past Gasthof Steinegg to Gasthof Mutkopf (1,684 m). Continue along the Bockersteig (still No. 22) until the junction with the Jägersteig (No. 22A). This challenging but rewarding trail runs below the Taufenscharte ridge, connecting to trail No. 25, which leads over the Pfitscherjoch to the Oberkaseralm at 2,131 m.

Stop at Oberkaseralm

The Oberkaseralm is known for its warm hospitality and authentic Alpine cuisine. You’ll find house-made specialties such as Alpine butter, smoked Speck, Kaminwurzen, roast lamb, and traditional dumplings with Speck or cheese. The sun terrace invites you to relax and enjoy the sweeping views of the surrounding peaks.

For those who wish to split the hike over two days, the hut offers overnight accommodation in shared rooms or dormitories. A night with breakfast costs around €35. (More info: oberkaseralm.it)

The Spronser Lakes – A Natural Treasure

The Spronser lake plateau consists of ten high-alpine lakes between 2,117 and 2,589 m and is considered the largest alpine lake district in the Eastern Alps. Among the most famous are Langsee, Grünsee, Schwarzsee, and Schiefersee.
Langsee is the largest, covering 20 hectares, and is home to Arctic char. Formed by glaciers, the lakes offer a majestic panorama and an unforgettable high-mountain experience.
